Accessibility at the Venue

The GNOME Foundation is committed to ensuring accessibility for all individuals at our events. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to participate, regardless of their disabilities. We offer the following arrangements to make GUADEC more accessible and inclusive.

Attendees who require childcare services can rest assured that on-site care will be made available.

For the BoFs:

An entrance suitable for people in wheelchairs is available through the gates from the Engigeers street (Inženieru iela) (note: the university home page has a map). An intercom is present for communication with the person on duty for opening the gates is located at the gate. As you walk through the gate in the courtyard, you must move towards the entrance on the right side (glass doors). The door is not equipped with a sensor. There is a wheelchair-adjusted WC in the basement right next to the elevator.

For the main venue:

The building is equipped with several amenities to meet the needs of people with special needs. There are ten parking spaces dedicated to people with special needs directly outside the building's entrance. The main door features a button that allows disabled people to enter the building without difficulty. There are no steps at the entrances or between the rooms, so wheelchair movements are not hampered. Three lifts offer vertical mobility between floors, including panoramic lifts with floor announcements in Latvian and Braille markings on floor buttons. The first and last steps are highlighted in a different color. The large auditorium has wheelchair-accessible seating, and the building has wheelchair-accessible bathrooms with alarm buttons. In the hallways, there are signs indicating specially fitted toilets for persons with reduced mobility. At the entrance of the building, there is a parking space reserved for disabled persons. Overall, the building's accessibility features are designed to ensure that persons with special needs can move around the building with ease.
