insights on Open Source gained from my journey as a student and professional in the
open source world. We will explore the benefits of open source contributions for both
students and professionals, along with strategies for successfully balancing these
roles along with open source and communities.

Talk Description In the bustling world of technology, students, professionals, and enthusiasts are engrossed in their daily tasks, often missing out on valuable opportunities. Open source and its vibrant communities can sometimes seem distant to many. Common misconceptions about open source, such as it being solely about free software or sharing code, further complicate matters. In this presentation, I will not only debunk these misconceptions but also share my personal journey as a GitHub Campus expert, open source community leader, and contributor deeply rooted in the local open source community here in Nepal. I have experienced both the challenges and rewards of being a professional student and a student professional. Additionally, I will explore how open source can bring tangible benefits and the broader aspects beyond free and open-source software (FOSS), such as open hardware and open data. Join me in unraveling the mysteries of open source from the perspectives of students and professionals. Together, we will dispel myths, uncover hidden opportunities, and gain a deeper understanding of the open source landscape.
