Description

Most designers use applications like Inkscape on GNOME, but they do not venture on to explore even more powerful softwares like Krita because of fear of failing or thinking that it is too complicated or that it can’t create what designers have in mind.

This talk will introduce the powerful features of Krita that I have explored while using it since my freshman year at college and will help contributors and new designers bridge the gap to using and creating graphic design, digital art or animation with the software.

Tracks Design of Users and Developer Experiences
Talk Description Krita is an open source design software which provides a tremendous amount of capabilities accessible to designers. It is a powerful tool best used for creating digital artworks, and has all the functionalities needed to create scalable vector graphics, art tutorials and even animations. This talk is for designers, contributors and beginners who feel overwhelmed by terms like graphic design, digital art or animation to feel more confident and comfortable to bridge that fear and try out new things with this tool.
Author(s) Bio A scalable vector existence: I am Nikita Tripathi, currently a final year student pursuing BTech in Mechanical Engineering at IIT Roorkee. I have been using Krita since my freshman year and have worked on Inkscape during my Outreachy internship at Fedora (May 2022). I have also freelanced with Software Freedom Conservancy as a graphic designer and made designs for FOSSY 2023. I got the opportunity to speak at Flock to Fedora 2023 in August this year.
