Description

GNOME Extensions, although many times not given proper recognition, are an important tool in driving in contributions to the community.
The extensions are a great way to learn code hygiene, proper version control usage, launching a program to the masses and learning GTK.
I also learned GTK and software development on GNOME by contributing to GNOME Extensions.

In this talk, we'll explore how GNOME Extensions play a pivotal role in bringing in more users and contributors to the GNOME desktop environment and what we can do to boost that effect and give it the recognition it deserves.

Tracks Application Development and Deployment
Talk Description GNOME Extensions are used by most users who use GNOME. The usage ranges from none to even 10s of extensions. These are powerful tools to enhance productivity and make the desktop environment your very own. Some popular extensions have downloads ranging to even 4906622. I am a GNOME Extension developer myself with over 86495 downloads. In the talk we'll explore what GNOME Extensions are, and why are they important. How they drive in more users and contributors. How they can act as indicators of user's needs. We'll explore some statistics and explore what we can do to make the space more powerful.
