Join us for a group walking tour of downtown Denver on July 24!

July 24, 2024 10:30 am - 12:00 pm (1.5 hours)
Leave from Union Station at 10:30 am.

From Union Station to Wynkoop, Tattered Cover to Warehouse Row, learn how the largest collection of historic warehouses in the West transformed from railroad hub to skid row to urban hot spot.

This tour is led by passionate and highly-trained citizen docents who will tell us the story of Denver’s founding, the arrival and impact of the railroad, the way buildings grew up around Union Station, and the transformation of the neighborhood – now a national model for how to balance preservation and development.

On this guided walking tour you will:

  • View one of the finest collections of late 19th and early 20th-century commercial buildings in America, historic hotels, and adaptive reuse projects.
  • Get a sense of what it felt like to arrive in and live in Denver at the turn of the 20th century.
  • Find out how Denver’s population mimicked the mining industry’s ups and downs.
  • Learn the reasons the neighborhood became a hot-spot, and understand the architecture that still makes LoDo unique.
  • The tour will take place in the Lower Downtown Historic District, a national model for how to balance preservation and development.

The tour route will return us to Union Station by noon. We'll finish the tour in time to grab lunch together or in smaller groups at one of the many nearby restaurants.

The registration cost for this day trip is $20 USD per person and the deadline for registrations is July 10th.

Please note that the price per person is based on a minimum registration count. If we do not meet the minimum required number of registrations by the deadline, this trip will be canceled and your money will be refunded. If we exceed the minimum required registrations all excess money will be donated to the GNOME Foundation.

*Please note that we can only accept cancellation or refund requests submitted before July 10th.
