Description
Several years ago, I formed a study group for students in a rural area that later named RGB. The group's initial goal was to teach them graphic design and drawing. However, over time, it became clear that these students needed something more fundamental, such as basic computer use and everyday applications. Therefore, I introduced them to free and open source software (FOSS), both office suites and drawing. In addition to FOSS, I also introduced them to free-knowledge projects, such as those hosted by Wikimedia, to demonstrate the diversity of the free movement.
In this talk, I will share our experiences, challenges, and future plans for this study group, and hopefully, it will inspire attendees to engage with FOSS with students and anyone else.
